The Thursdays @ 7 Book Discussion Group at Fayette’s Normal Memorial Library will discuss “Night” by Elie Wiesel this month.
Weisel was born in Sighet, Transylvania, and was a teenager in 1944 when he and his family were taken from their home to the Auschwitz concentration camp and then to Buchenwald.
“Night” is a record of Wiesel’s memories of the death of his family, the death of his innocence, and his despair as a deeply observant Jew confronting the evil of man. This is his testimony to what happened in the camps and of his unforgettable message that this horror must never be allowed to happen again.
The book discussion is scheduled at 7 p.m. April 23 at the library. The public is welcome to attend, either to discuss the book or just to listen to others.
Extra copies of the book are available at the library.
