Fayette residents warned about snow removal 12.24.08
Fayette police officers are seeing a lot of unshoveled walks in the village following recent snowstorms. Chief Jason Simon warns residents that failure to clear walks can get expensive.
A village ordinance specifies that sidewalks must be cleared of snow within 24 hours after the storm ends.
The first offense can result in a fine of $150. A second offense is the same amount or more, he said.
Chief Simon said the majority of problems are at rental properties—particularly vacant properties—that are owned by non-resident owners.
