Morenci Kiwanis Wishing Tree project 11.26.08

Written by David Green.

The Morenci Kiwanis Club’s annual Wishing Tree project is underway again, with trees located at Stair Public Library, United Bank and Trust and First Federal Bank.

Stars hanging from the trees list clothing needs and a gift idea for area children who could use some extra help during the holiday season.

People are invited to take a star, shop for some of the items listed and return the purchased goods to United Bank and Trust or the library.

Gifts will be delivered to families in the area, along with a box of food. Community members are also urged to drop off non-perishable food items to help with the effort.

The Morenci High School Volunteer Club will organize a food collection at the high school for students. Dollar General will also accept donations of food purchased at that location.

HATS AND MITTENS—The Village Inn restaurant staff is bringing back their hat and mittens tree to collect winter gear for children. Warm socks are also needed.
