Some confusion remains with ambulance billing 11.19.08

Written by David Green.

Many Morenci area residents can’t seem to shake the concept of the subscription ambulance service.

The problem is that the subscription program ended years ago.

Seneca Township clerk Kim Quist said the issue came up once again at a recent board of trustees meeting. Some people still have the mistaken idea that the special assessment for EMS ambulance service covers the cost of a run.

Actually, the assessments paid by residents of Morenci, Medina Township and Seneca Township only guarantee the  Morenci Area EMS service is there when needed.

When the ambulance is called, the patient’s insurance company will be billed. If insurance doesn’t cover the cost, or if the patient has no insurance coverage, the bill is sent to the individual.
