One arrest was made last week in connection with a bomb threat made at Morenci Area High School, but the case isn’t yet closed.
Morenci Chief of Police Larry Weeks arrested a 12-year-old student March 5 after the student wrote on the back of a test paper about his desire to bomb schools and injure people.
The threat was written March 4 and was later read by a teacher going over the test papers. When the youth was questioned by police the next day, he admitted writing the threat on the test paper.
The message on the test paper also claimed responsibility for a threat that was written on a bathroom stall at the high school Feb. 29, but the student denied responsibility when questioned and that incident remains under investigation, Weeks said.
The youth was lodged at Maurice Spears Campus facing a felony charge for lodging a bomb threat.
