A Morenci man was pronounced dead on the scene of a two-vehicle traffic accident early Monday morning.

Leonard Adam Dietrich, 58, of 516 Whitney Ave., was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on Territorial Road when the accident occurred at about 4:12 a.m.

According to the report by the Hillsdale County Sheriff Office, Dietrich crossed over Pioneer Road (M-99) in Amboy Township and was struck by a southbound Plymouth Voyager minivan driven by Larae Marie Hegeman, 39, of Hillsdale.

Dietrich’s vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Hegeman was transported by emergency helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo. A 16-year-old passenger was taken to the Hillsdale Community Health Center.

The accident still remained under investigation as of Tuesday morning.
