Free counseling sessions for combat vets 2.27

Written by David Green.

Group sessions for combat veterans of any conflict will begin March 6 at the Fulton County Veterans Service Office. The sessions run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Thursday.

The program is scheduled in cooperation with the new Toledo Veterans Center.

Counselors who served in the armed forces will offer help for post-traumatic stress disorder, readjustment counseling, marriage and family therapy, grief counseling and sexual trauma counseling.

The service is free for veterans and family members throughout their lives.

Twenty-one new veteran centers were recently funded by Congress, said director Dorian LeBeau, and Toledo was chosen for one of the locations.

To receive the services, veterans must show their DD-214 form to prove eligibility.

For additional information, contact the Fulton County office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by calling 419/337-9266.
