The Morenci Education Foundation gave a record $9,124 in mini-grants to teachers and staff members at Morenci’s three school buildings.

The 26 mini-grants were announced to staff members Friday.

The foundation’s annual Father’s Day Golf Tournament is the major source of funding for the mini-grant program, although this year additional funding came through two other sources.

The family of the late Phyllis Ries designated memorials to the Morenci Education Foundation, plus a donation was received from Mark and Beth Pennington of Pennington Gas Service of Morenci.
