Downtown facade program moves forward 9.19

Morenci’s downtown façade improvement initiative takes a step forward this week with an announcement of bid information.

Working through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, the City of Morenci is seeking bids for five projects.

Work includes painting at Rural Urban Insurance; replacement windows and doors and other projects at Johnson’s Hardware; replacement of an awning, brick repair, painting and decorative trim at the Pizza Box;

Replacement windows in front and new awning and sign in the back of the store at T.J. Decker & Associates; and new doors, replacement windows, and the installation of insulated glass at Wes’ Floor Covering.

Bids are due by Oct. 10 at city hall. Work must be completed by May 1, 2008.

Property owners pay 50 percent of the project cost. The grant totaled $27,410.
