Rodeo star to visit festival 7.04

Written by David Green.

With Morenci’s Town and Country Festival just around the corner, final preparations are firming up—but then there are always some last-minute surprises.

Rodeo fans know the name Erik Wolford. The 22-year-old Clinton native was named the 2005 IPRA saddle bronc champion and All Around Cowboy, and he finished third in the most recent World’s Toughest Cowboy competition.

Clinton school teacher Laura Krzyzaniak wrote a biography about Wolford and she will sell copies of the book at the concession tent Friday night near the Super Kicker Rodeo event at Wakefield Park, starting at 5 p.m.

At 6 p.m., Wolford will make an appearance to visit with fans and then watch the rodeo that starts at 7 p.m. Wolford competed in the Super Kicker circuit before moving on to national events.
