Plastic bags can be recycled now 5.2

Paper or plastic?

It’s a question many store clerks don’t ask and in many cases the choice isn’t available.

The result is an enormous use of the plastic shopping bag, most of which end up in landfills—those that aren’t hanging in trees and blowing down the street.

Morenci residents have some good news about what to do with the bags. The recycling center on Baker Street is now collecting them. A bin will be in place for bags and Werlor Waste Control of Defiance will take them along with other recyclable materials.

The solution to the paper vs. plastic dilemma is to bring your own cloth bag, but any plastic bags received while shopping, the city is offering an environmentally safe means of disposal.
