Martin P. Durjan, 78, of Portland, Ore., originally from Michigan, died June 22, 2012, at Senior Care Center in Portland.  

He was born January 13, 1935, to John and Mary (Herk) Durjan. He married Ann Kunde on Jan. 16, 1965, and she survives. Martin retired from the United States Navy after serving 21 years.

Besides his wife, Martin is survived by sons Tim of Portland and Joe of Colorado; a granddaughter, Jolene; three sisters, Martha (and Harold) Waterbury of Metamora, Ohio, Margaret (and Ronald) Wheeler of Wauseon, Ohio, and Betty Marsh of Morenci; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Anna Struhar, Helen Hart, Katie Miller and Pauline Coleman; one brother, Samuel; two nieces, Betsy Marsh in infancy, and Patricia (Struhar) Weber; and one nephew, John Demusky.

A private family service with military honors is planned in Portland.
