Viola May Cox, (née Rudolph), 88 of Medina, Mich., died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Lorain, Ohio, following a short illness.
Viola was born June 12, 1918, in Morenci, Mich., the daughter of Jacob Rudolph and Cora M. (Mansfield) Rudolph Hollinger. She and her husband, Merle, moved to their home in Medina Township in 1946.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, cooking, sewing, crocheting and traveling in her camper.
Viola is survived by her daughters Margaret Irene Spring of Wauseon, Ohio, and Velda M. Reynolds of Lorain; son Merle K. Cox, Jr., of Hudson, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Merle F. Cox, in 2001; daughters Arleta P. Cox in 1946, Barbara J. Brown in 2004; brothers Roy Rudolph, Chancey Rudolph and Chelsey Rudolph; and her stepfather Clyde Hollinger.
A memorial service is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Burial will follow in Michigan.
