Jeanice Spear, 88, of Manitou Beach, Mich., died Aug. 22, 2011, at the Charlotte Stephenson Manor in Adrian, Mich.

She was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Medina Township, the daughter of  Duane and Lena (Mann) Humphrey. On April 12, 1941, in Medina Township, she married Curtis L. Spear.  He preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1997.

Jeanice lived at Manitou Beach since 1974 and spent her last 38 winters in Bradenton, Fla.  She was a graduate of Gorham Fayette High School.  Jeanice was a member of the Addison United Church, the Devils Lake Bridge Club, the Devils Lake Duplicate Bridge Club and the Addison Women Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Joy (and Frank) Simmons of Adrian and Jan (and Scott) Merillat of Wauseon, Ohio; a son, Keith (and Darlene) Spear of Florida; five granddaughters, Darcel Browning, Christa McVay, Nicole Tryon, Chanda Chesnut and Lindsey McMordie; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Doyce Humphrey of Pennsylvania.

Besides her husband, Curtis, Jeanice was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Keith Humphrey.

Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Pastor Kevin Duffy officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.  Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
