Damman, Maurice "Moe"
Maurice (Moe) William Damman, 78, of Lyons, Ohio, died Jan. 19, 2011, from complications following a stroke that he suffered in September.
Moe was born Sept. 7, 1932, to the late Albert and Hilda Damman, former proprietors of White City Restaurant, where he pumped gas for his father. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Clark, on Aug. 28, 1950. Moe was salutatorian of Lyons High School, graduating with class of 1950, and he an active member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon, Ohio.
Moe was a cabinet maker/finish carpenter by trade and also built seven homes from the ground up. He retired in 1998 and has since spent winters in Florida so that he could pursue his love of fishing, golfing and card playing year around.
Moe’s faith in God and family values served as examples to many and leaves his family with a strong foundation that will continue to guide their lives.
He is survived his wife; a sister Janice (and Daniel) Schult; children Joseph (and Debbie) Damman, Susan (and Daniel) Buchinger, Jeffrey (and fiancée Linda Mossing), Nancy (and Gary) Kreuz, Tina (and Rob) Broadway and Dana Damman; grandchildren Garrett, Kari, Bethany (and Matt), Jacob (and Sara), Christine (and Peter), Kendra (and Eric), Jared, A.J., Sarah, Gina, Emily, Doug (and Allie), Erica, Carly and Jason; step-grandchildren Brittany (and Mike) and Brandon; and great-grandson Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Marvin Damman.
Funeral services are planned at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon, with the Rev. Charles Althoff officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Lyons Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Emmaus Lutheran Church.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Emmaus Lutheran Church or Lyons Fire Department.
