Zoning hearing planned in Fayette 2012.10.10
Fayette's zoning board of appeals will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 to consider a variance for construction of a building for agricultural use in a district zoned for R-1 residential structures.
The property is located along Gamble Road and runs north to the Dollar General store. The proposed 60 by 100-foot building would be used for agricultural purposes and access would come on a drive off Gamble Road.
The property has been planted with crops for years, explained Fayette village administrator Steve Blue, but a previous owner considered using the property for a subdivision and obtained residential zoning. Agricultural use of the property is allowed as a prior non-conforming use, but expanding that non-conforming use requires a variance.
Because of the size of the property, Blue said a large number of neighbors had to be contacted about the variance request, and each of the adjacent property owners will have the opportunity to comment on the request.
The property is owned by Robert Tobe of Ottawa, Ohio. He would like to have the building erected yet this year.
