Anyone who has a love of gardening is invited to attend the Morenci Garden Club’s first meeting for 2012, scheduled at 7 p.m. April 17, at the First Congregational Church, located at 104 W. Locust St. 

Audrey Wegner, superintendent of the Lenawee County Fair Horticultural Department, is the guest speaker. She will discuss the requirements for individual and club floral entries at the county fair.

The group has planned a new fund raiser, a Geranium Sale, scheduled at 9 p.m. May 12, at the former depot on Main Street. Club members will sell large six-inch plants in pink, red, white and salmon for $7 each. The flowers will be ordered from Bean Creek Garden Center on April 18. Profits will be used to benefit the downtown beautification projects.

 The club is also planning a community plant exchange again this year, along with a container garden competition. Details will be made available at a later date.
