Camp Palmer update 2011.10.19
More than 125 people attended the fourth annual Celebrate Camp Palmer day on Oct. 1.
Events included riding on the zip line, climbing the giant wall and riding up in the air via the flying squirrel event.
Fayette High School FFA students led carnival games after lunch, along with face painting, pumpkin decorating, pony wagon rides, archery and more.
POOL FUND—Several area 4-H clubs were winners in the 4-H Club Pool Fund Raiser Challenge. Overall, the effort brought in $2,350.
First place winners were 4-H Gainers and Leaders (Fulton County), Grelton Bluebirds and Prize Livestock (Henry County) and Pike Kountry Kids 4-H Club (Fulton County). Second place winners were Gold Medal 4-H Club (Wood County) and Pike Kountry Kids 4-H Club.
PEPSI REFRESH—Will Camp Palmer’s third try at Pepsi Refresh grant be a winning entry?
From Nov. 1 to 30, 4-H Camp Palmer will compete in the $50,000 Pepsi Refresh Project Grant for the third try this season.
In May Camp Palmer finished in 67th place and in 36th in August. A top-10 finish is needed to receive a grant to purchase a new water slide for the pool.

CONSTRUCTION—Construction is underway on a new year-round retreat cabin at the camp. The facility will be available to youth camps, retreat groups and many users of the camp.
