Anniversary: Uhler 2011.08.03

anniv.uhlerMr. and Mrs. Wayne Uhler will celebrate 69 years of marriage.

Wayne Uhler and Mildred Taylor were united in marriage Aug. 6, 1942, at Munson United Brethren Church by H.B. Peters. Evabell Knisley Clendenin and Wayne Taylor were the attendants. Theirs was the first wedding ceremony ever held in the church.

Wayne served in the U.S. Army from 1944-45. He was stationed as a mechanic at  the proving grounds in Aberdeen, Md., before he was sent to Alaska. He returned home to work as a mechanic in Fayette, Hudson, Morenci and Archbold. Mildred was an Electrolux salesperson for 27 years.

The couple has three children, Elaine (and Denny) Schaffner, Jean (and Jack) Schoenegge, and Nancy Crisp. They also have six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
