Skelton brothers video 2011.06.15
Morenci Chief of Police Larry Weeks worked with a Toledo television crew to produce public service announcements seeking information in the case of the three missing Skelton brothers.
Announcements are being broadcast on television and radio stations, and a 30-second video appears on many websites, including the Observer’s. (statelineobserver.com. Look for the Skelton Brothers Public Service Announcement link under the State Line Observer menu on the right side of the page.)
Chief Weeks and the Skelton Investigation Task Force collaborated with WTVG-TV of Toledo to create radio spots plus a short video now posted on YouTube. The announcements were made with the hope of reminding people in the area to remain vigilant for signs of the boys who disappeared on Thanksgiving Day 2010.
The brothers’ father, John Skelton, remains lodged in the Lenawee County Jail facing charges of kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment. His bail is set at $90 million.
Skelton entered a written not-guilty plea in circuit court June 9 rather than face arraignment. A four-day jury trial is set to begin Tuesday, Aug. 16.
At a divorce hearing June 8, Skelton again insisted that he is unable to return the children to their mother, Tonya, because he gave them away to an organization. He has said a representative of the group came to his house Thanksgiving Day and took the children to prevent them from being with their mother.
