David Borer joins Fayette council 02.03.10
Fayette has a full village council again following the appointment of David Borer.
Councilors voted unanimously Thursday night to appoint Borer to fill a vacancy that will expire Dec. 31, 2011. A seat was left empty after council member Ruth Marlatt was elected mayor last November.
Three residents appeared before council and expressed an interest in the position: Borer, Eugene Rosinski and former councilor Ken Delphous.
Council met briefly in a closed session to discuss the candidates before returning to vote for Borer.
The council met for its final time on a Thursday night. The traditional schedule of the second and fourth Thursday of the month will change to the third Tuesday, making the next meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 16.
APPOINTMENTS—Earl Ferguson was appointed to the village tree commission and Susan Williams will join the zoning board.
A few openings on boards have yet to be filled, Marlatt said.
COMMITTEES—The following committee assignments were approved:
• Finance: Julia Ruger, Paula Ferguson and Tom Molitierno;
• Public Works: Rodney Kessler, Molitierno and Ruger;
• Public Safety: Mike Maginn, Kessler and David Borer;
• Governmental Affairs: Maginn, Ferguson and Borer.
After an initial organizational meeting, committees will meet only when called rather than at an established time.
RETIREMENT—Council passed a resolution to establish a voluntary retirement incentive plan, with the aim of potential savings to the village in the future.
FLOOD PLAIN—Marlatt told council that the village flood plain map has been redrawn and a few properties have been shifted either in or out of the flood plain.
