Morenci school board 10.07
Influenza inoculations for H1N1 will be given later this month at Morenci Middle School.
Middle school principal Kay Johnson told board of education members Monday that she’s been given a tentative date of Oct. 23 for the Lenawee County Health Department to offer flu shots to students during the afternoon and to adults after school.
The middle school computer lab will be used for middle and high school students. Another site will be set up at the elementary school.
When a final date is scheduled, information will be sent home with children and published in the newspaper.
During a short meeting Monday, board members approved Todd Saylor as a volunteer assistant football coach and approved an updated coach’s handbook.
New wording added a mid-season evaluation for coaches in addition to the post-season evaluation.
Athletic director Tim Kruse explained that he meets with the head coach of each sport to review evaluations made by the coach about other coaches on his or her staff.
MILLAGE—Middle school teacher Sally Kruger asked board members if they were aware that the district is allowed to seek a recreational millage to help pay for school athletics.
Board president Scott Merillat said he would be very hesitant to ask voters for an additional millage when they were recently asked to support a millage for maintenance projects.
Superintendent Kyle Griffith said a key to passage of the maintenance millage is that it asked for no additional funds beyond what was already being paid. He thinks this is a very tough time economically to ask taxpayers for more.
