Book discussion set at Fayette library 9.02.09

The Thursdays @ 7 Book Discussion Group at Fayette’s Normal Memorial Library will meet Sept. 24, to discuss “Sarah’s Quilt: A Novel of Sarah Agnes Prine and the Arizona Territories, 1906” by Nancy E. Turner.

In 1906, the badlands of the southern Arizona Territory are desolate, and a three-year drought has changed the landscape. When Sarah’s well goes dry her mother hires a water witch who develops an attraction to Sarah.

When she learns that her brother and his family are trapped in the Great San Francisco Earthquake, she and her father-in-law embark on a rescue mission.

The book is described as “straightforward, gritty and persistent” as the seven-month journal tells the tales of hardship and challenge

For more information, call the library at 237-2115 or stop at the circulation desk. Extra copies of the book are available.
