Emilie (Mansfield) Calvert, RN, was recently presented with the Nurses Mentor Award for her work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis Hospital in Oklahoma where she has worked for 29 years.

She is a Clinical Nurse III and is nationally certified in the care of high risk infants. She has been a mentor to many nursing students as well as NICU nurses. She is said to seek opportunities to expose her mentees to many different situations, shows them how to locate available resources and teaches them how to approach and communicate with staff physicians.

Calvert follows up with mentees when orientation is over and continues to guide them, helping them adapt and supporting them in difficult assignments.

Calvert is the daughter of Herbert and Evelyn Mansfield of Morenci.
