The deadline for Fulton County residents to register to vote in the May 5 special election is April 6.
Gorham Township residents will vote on a five-year renewal of the 0.4 mills levy for the cemetery. All county residents will vote on the five-year renewal of 1.1 mill levy for senior citizen services.
Voters who have registered in the past, whose name and residence are unchanged are ready to vote in May. Women who have changed their name by marriage and anyone who has moved to another precinct since they registered or last voted must report the change. Changes may be made through the mail or at the Fulton County Board of Elections office, located at 525 N. Shoop Ave. in Wauseon.
The residence requirement for voting is 30 days in the state of Ohio, and voters must be registered at least 30 days before an election to vote in that election.
Besides the Board of elections office, residents may register to vote at libraries, village clerk’s offices, license bureaus, high schools, vocational schools, the WIC office, the Dept. of Human Services, and the county treasurer’s office.
ABSENTEE—Absentee ballots for the May 5 special election are available now at the Board of Elections office.
Voting by absentee ballot may be done at the Board of Elections office or a written request may be made to have a ballot sent to the voter in the mail.
In order to receive a ballot, voters must provide their name, date of birth, signature, Fulton County address where they are registered to vote, and a statement identifying the election the ballot is requested for and stating that the person requesting the ballot is a qualified voter. If the request is for a primary election, the voter’s party affiliation is needed.
Voters must also provide one of the following: a driver’s license number, the last four digits of their social security number, a copy of a current and valid photo ID, or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows the address of the voter.
If the voter requests a ballot by mail, the address where the ballot should be sent must be included.
