Fulton County stores cited in alcohol check 1.14.09
Seven Fulton County businesses were recently cited for failing alcohol compliance checks.
The Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU), a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, completed a series of alcohol compliance checks of retailers with liquor licenses in Fulton County.
Those cited were:
• Delta
Speedway, 420 Main St.
Village Tavern, 216 Main St.
Country Corral, 7910 SR 109
• Swanton
Speedway, 14155 Airport Hwy
• Wauseon
Circle K, 1497 N. Shoop
Circle K, 495 E. Airport Hwy.
• Lyons
DWT, Inc., 118 N. Adrian St.
During the checks, a trained informant under the age of 21 attempts to purchase alcohol while an officer from the OIU waits in an outside area away from view of those inside the store.
The purpose of the checks is to ensure that local retailers with liquor licenses are requiring proper identification. This makes sure they are selling alcohol only to those age 21 and older, in compliance with the law.
During this round of checks, the following retailers were compliant with these laws:
• Wauseon
Circle K, 248 N. Fulton
Certified Oil, 1200 N. Shoop
• Swanton
Kroger, 113 E. Airport Hwy.
• Metamora
Farley's Tavern, 121-123 Maple St.
• Lyons
Lyons Main Stop, 105 W. Morenci St.
• Fayette
Circle K, 200-204 E. Main St.
Mel’s Place, 106-108 E. Main St.
The checks were conducted in conjunction with the "Parents Who Host, Lose the Most" campaign through the Fulton County Family and Children First Council and the Partnership for a Drug-Free Fulton County.
