Fayette school enrollment increases 12.04.08
There were no big changes in Fayette’s student enrollment numbers from the previous school year, but a lot of minor variations led to an overall increase of 17 students.
That translates into a growth of about $100,000 in state funding, wiping out a similar decrease the district experienced last year.
The biggest change occurred in the eighth grade—an increase of five students from a year ago when that group of students was in seventh grade.
On the other hand, the seventh grade class lost four students over the summer.
The fourth grade class is the largest at 42, while the junior and senior classes have only 28 students.
The total count stands at 480 which is still below the state projections used for construction of the new school. Estimates placed the enrollment at 512 last year, when it was actually at 463, and officials project a head count of 544 in the 2014-15 school year.
About nine percent of the student body takes part in open enrollment by enrolling in a district other than where they reside.
Twenty-eight Fayette students are enrolled in other districts and 17 students from outside the district attend Fayette. Last year, 36 Fayette students took classes elsewhere.
