Morenci library events 10.29.08
The weather report is looking good for Oct. 31—64° and mostly sunny—a great day for Red Hatters to take a little trip to Tecumseh.
The Morenci Millinery Mavens of the Red Hat Society will view the free outdoor sculpture exhibit, “Art Trail Tecumseh,” and have lunch at the British Pantry on Friday, Halloween.
For this event, prizes will be awarded to the best Halloween-themed red hat.
A car pool will leave the library Friday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. Sign up at the library or call 458-6510.
Trash or Treasure
Somewhere in your house there must be some old thing that you’ve wondered about. Is that worth anything?
Plan to find out at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, when Stair Public Library brings in Larry and Theresa Nelson of Tecumseh’s Hitching Post Antiques Mall.
The program will be conducted in an open format for an “Antique Roadshow”-like program. There won’t be private consultations; Larry will comment on individual objects that audience members bring in.
Each person may bring three objects small enough for one person to carry. There won’t be room for furniture and there may not be time to evaluate all items.
Used Book Sale
It’ll be here before we know it, so start getting ready—for the Friends of Stair Public Library Used Book Sale.
The sale is scheduled Nov. 12 to 14, Wednesday through Friday, during the library’s regular hours: Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Thursday and Friday 1 to 5 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to help during two hour shifts; sign up at the library or call 458-6510.
Donations of books will be accepted at the library only during regular hours.
Potluck and Author Chat
Observant readers noticed last week that no date was given for the Italian Potluck before the “Very Valentine” speakerphone chat with author Adriana Trigiani.
Both events are scheduled Monday, Nov. 17. The potluck begins at 6 p.m., the chat starts at 7.
Everyone in the community is invited to attend the chat, but reservations are requested for the potluck to help with planning.
Participants are encouraged to try a new recipe from Trigiani’s cookbook, “Cooking with My Sisters,” but old favorites can also be used.
Call the library to reserve a copy of “Very Valentine.”
