Fayette council sets Halloween hour 10.1
Fayette’s trick-or-treaters will be limited to one hour of begging again this year on a split decision by council members.
Village administrator Amy Metz told council Thursday that she’s received requests from some parents for a longer trick-or-treat period.
Ruth Marlatt said she thinks one hour is enough and Ken Delphous spoke about safety concerns with children crossing U.S. 20 in the dark.
Those two voted for a one-hour time while Paul Shaffer and Jerry Gonzales wanted a longer period.
“If you want to end it after an hour,” Gonzales said, “just turn your porch light out.”
Mayor Anita Van Zile broke the deadlock by voting in favor of the one-hour period.
Trick-or-treat is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31. In addition, the annual party will be scheduled at the fire hall.
