Fayette schedules Blues Fest 8.13
Fayette’s park board members are hoping for a large turn-out Saturday when they convert the running track into a venue for a blues festival.
Three bands are scheduled to perform, starting at 5 p.m., and plenty of food and beverages will be on sale. Admission to the event is $5.
“We’ve got our permits and everything is going smoothly,” said police chief Jason Simon who is helping the board organize the fund raiser.
Permits were needed for the sale of beer at the event. Guests are not allowed to bring their own alcohol.
“It’s amazing how many people are stepping up and volunteering to help,” Simon said.
Dave’s Sand and Stone is furnishing a trailer to serve as a stage and local resident Earl Lloyd has volunteered to grill the hamburgers and hot dogs that will be offered for sale.
Johnny Reed and the Houserockers from Toledo are scheduled to open the festival at 5 p.m., followed by TC & the Roadmasters from Napoleon, Mich. The Front Street Blues Band from Detroit is the closing act.
Bleachers will be set up for viewing the event, but Simon suggests bringing lawn chairs to kick back and relax in comfort.
The park board will meet for a final planning session at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at the village office.
