FCHC still seeks a physician for Fayette 3.19
The search for a new family physician to serve Fayette continues and support for the medical office remains strong.
Fulton County Health Center (FCHC) administrator Dean Beck attended the Fayette village council meeting Thursday to assure council members of the health center’s commitment to finding a physician.
Beck said he doesn’t want to rush the process. His intent is to find someone who will fit in well with the community and who will, ideally, stay for a long time.
Two search firms are assisting FCHC in the effort.
In the meantime, interim physician Jennifer Schweitzer-Ahmed is willing to continue serving the town and might work on a part-time basis after a new physician is on the job.
The vacancy occurred after the resignation of Dr. Ronald Music in December.
“We were sad to see him go,” Beck said. “He built the practice up again and it was a shock when he said he was going to leave.”
Beck said he heard a variety of rumors surrounding Dr. Music’s departure.
Dr. Music’s wife’s parents are having some health problems and she has spent a lot of time with them at their northern Michigan home. The Musics also have a daughter attending school in northern Michigan.
Dr. Music began working in Gaylord, Mich., on Jan. 1.
Beck was asked about a rumored change in insurance policies at the Fayette medical office, but he wasn’t aware of any changes....
