March weather 4.04

It was almost more than spring; it was a taste of summer.

With snow back on the forecast this week, think back to some warm thoughts from a week ago when the temperature reached the upper 70s two days before topping out at 80° March 27.

“That one set a record in Toledo,” said Morenci area climate observer George Isobar, “and it was only 79° there.”

The previous record was about 30 years old, Isobar said. In 1976, a record of 77° was set for March 26.

Toledo’s record book lists 83° as the warmest March temperature of all, coming March 24, 1910.

“Like most Marches, there was a lot of variation in temperature last month,” Isobar said. “We had some single-digit lows early in the month, then a couple of days in the 70s on the 13th and 14th. After that it headed back down into the 30s.”
