The story about the Morenci bell caught the attention of Dave Pummell of Ann Arbor.

“I just read the recent article in the June 6 edition of the State Line Observer about the mysterious bell with the inscription “Morenci Mich No 3.” I purchased a bell at an auction near Berkey, Ohio, two years ago with the inscription “Morenci Mich No 2.”

Pummell wonders where his bell was originally located and he hopes someone responds with information. He intends to   restore his No. 2 bell and move it to the family farm near Morenci.

It appears that No. 2 bells are smaller, but the words “Morenci Mich” are still a mystery. Perhaps there was a foundry in town at one time.
