2010.02.10 Leon Shulters: This and that
Problems in the United States of America. The mess the United States is in today, did not just start. In the early 90s I wrote about increasing medical costs. Workers were giving up pay and health benefits to hold their jobs. Our big three automobile manufacturing companies have been using foreign made parts for years. When you say, “Buy American,” forget it. More foreign made parts are shipped in and more jobs are lost.
If you will notice, our politicians do not care about the working class people of the United States. They worry about the next election. Both parties are guilty, Republican and Democrat. I, for one, voted for a third party in the 2008 election. The Democratic and Republican parties have let the American people down.
Today’s recession will be harder to resolve. In the 80s we had lower medical costs, lower gas prices and we still had a lot of manufacturing jobs in this country. Gone are a lot of jobs and high cost of living are here.
The NAFTA bill was started in the George Herbert Walker Bush administration, a Republican. Bill Clinton, a Democratic president, signed it into law.
As for freedom, we are losing it every day with trumped up laws. In Toledo, Ohio, if you park on the lawn you get a ticket. The air bag and seat belt law—they can save or kill you. It’s the law, so use them or get a ticket. I have smoked since I was 12 years old. I smoked when I was in the Navy in WWII fighting for our grand old United States of America. I am 85 years old today, I still smoke and enjoy it. I didn’t hear anybody cry socialism when the government made it a law that TV was going digital. It is the law.
Both parties, Democratic and Republican, pushed the law through. It is outrageous the cost to the American people the medical profession charges.
The United States is going bankrupt by corruption and high costs, overpaid celebrities, C.O.s, politicians, medical professionals and the advertisement agencies.
