2010.01.20 Dayna Cordts: Vote for recall
I had a chance to read the responses that are being put on the ballots by the Seneca Township clerk and treasurer in reference to their recalls. I am not even going to entertain the lies and misleadings of the truth that they put on there, because everyone knows what lies and misleadings they are.
What I will entertain is the fact that the responses are making this out to be about a fence and me being angry over a fence. This has nothing to do with me or a fence. The whole fence issue got blown way out of proportion. And I am not angry about a fence.
Members of the township planning commission have since corrected the special use permit and guess what? I don’t have to put up a fence. So let’s not make a recall about a fence. That’s kind of stupid. Let’s keep it for what it is.
I have led the way for this recall, yes. Myself, along with others, were stunned at how we saw these elected officials conduct themselves at a public meeting, and we were stunned at how they conducted the business regarding a fence issue.
We pay the clerk $700 a month and we pay the treasurer almost $600. I think for that kind of money we are entitled to have elected officials conduct themselves a little better than what was displayed.
I could not do this myself. In a few weeks there were 105 signatures collected for the recall. There are a lot of residents who are not happy with what happened, and they have nothing to do with a fence. And we have the right to say we’re not going to let this happen in our township. That’s what this recall is about.
And just to clear one thing up, it was reported in last week’s paper that the recall petition cited the officials for enforcing a special use permit. They did not enforce a special use permit, they made a complaint at the state level on my license on a special use permit that was incorrectly issued by the clerk. And when they were told it was incorrect by the supervisors of both boards they didn’t show any interest in correcting it and they still voted to make the complaint on the incorrectly issued permit.
