Morenci resident Monna Dywer recently learned what it means to take the extra step and go beyond the call of duty.
She fell one night last week and pushed the button on her Ferris emergency life line. That brought the Morenci Area EMS ambulance to her house, but there was a problem: the locked door.
“In a few minutes, a call from the county sheriff said the squad was at the door, but couldn’t get in,” Monna said, “so my son Mike was called for a key.”
Monna doesn’t know the name of the two women from the EMS unit, but she remembers what they did.
“They climbed up the antenna ladder, took the air conditioner out of the window, and climbed in and got me up.”
“I don’t have the right words to tell the squad just how amazing I think they all are and to convey my heartfelt ‘Thank you!’” she said. “I am so proud to be a Morencian!”
