I very much enjoyed reading your description of Dr. Buerk’s presentation at Fayette in June. The “Races at Philippi” were new to me and the transformational nature of the Civil War is an interesting theme to think upon.
I also read about your battles with Siberian elms and got a chuckle over the strange delivery patterns of the Observer. When you said “I don’t even want to think about how few people will actually take the time to read [the Civil War story],” I thought I’d write you and let you know that at least one person did.
You may also be amused to know that I’ve never been a resident of the Morenci area nor do I subscribe to the Observer. Your prose is becoming known quite widely!
