However, in this case, she made such a big deal about the teleprompter issue so that's why people came down on her. Having said that, I think the teleprompter is such an annoying prop--the turning of the head from right to left suggests that the speaker could be watching a ping-pong match; it's really off-putting for me. If Obama is such a gifted speaker, it seems he could get by on written notes, whether on paper or on his hand. I hate the side-to-side head turning--I don't care who does it. I'm sure someone could find a Clinton speech where he uses that device but generally, he was so knowledgeable about his subject matter that he didn't need one.
