Very striking

lightningfields1282009-574x716.jpg Photographers Hiroshi Sugimoto comes up with some interesting images by using a 400,000 volt Van De Groff generator to apply an electrical charge directly to film. [Film? What's film?] These images used to be known as Trouvelot figures. More of his work is shown here and the link to his own website is here. There’s some interesting stuff there, including the Chamber of Horrors that starts off with this sentence:

People in olden times were apparently less fearful and grievous of death than we are today.

I’ve wondered that same thing when I read newspapers from a century ago.
