I looked at a map of rural population changes this morning and noticed that Lenawee County is listed as rural while Fulton County is listed as exurban. I had to look that one up and found this definition: A region lying beyond the suburbs of a city, especially one inhabited principally by wealthy people.
Because Fulton County is exurban, it isn’t included in the population analysis. Lenawee, on the other hand, is listed as a growth county from 2000 to 2009. I’d like to see the final census count. With declining enrollment in every school district but one, it’s a mystery that the population is growing.
The story and map are here.
