The medical tax

I just heard about a Fayette resident who recently went on a shopping trip to Cabela’s and had to pay a 2.3% medical tax. The clerk told the shopper that he could thank the President for that. Here we go with further adventure’s in Obamacare. Actually, it’s further adventures in the crazy response to federal health care legislation.

It’s true that there’s a new tax on medical devices, but not on coats, guns, socks, etc. Cabela’s claims the company had a computer glitch that started Jan. 1 and it must have been quite a bonus for them. They charged the tax on everything they sold. I don’t know if they even sell anything that would be considered a medical device. I guess it depends on how you use it.

Actually the tax applies to manufacturers, importers, producers. Cabela’s shouldn’t be charging it even if they sold artificial hearts. If you were cheated by Cabela’s this year, you’re invited to contact the company for a refund.
