The finest democracy money can buy

Lawrence Lessig, author of the book “Republic, Lost: How Money Corrupts Congress—and a Plan to Stop It,” is calling for a drastic approach to turn America away from the money that influences actions in Washington, D.C. The Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision really seals the deal for the sale of votes. Lessig says this is the basic change that needs to precede others. In fact, nothing is going to change unless this happens.

He’s calling for a Constitutional Convention – the first since the original – to make a change. Would politicians do it? Of course not. They don’t want to lose their funding. Lessig wants ordinary citizens chosen at random from voting rolls to serve as delegates.

Here’s the story about Lessig’s ideas.
