The almost revolution of 1933

I don’t think I ever heard about this in school. I don’t know who came up with it first – the same wording is rampant in a Google search – but here it is from the “Timeline of the Great Depression.”

Alarmed by Roosevelt’s plan to redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor, a group of millionaire businessmen, led by the Du Pont and J.P. Morgan empires, plans to overthrow Roosevelt with a military coup and install a fascist government modelled after Mussolini’s regime in Italy. The businessmen try to recruit General Smedley Butler, promising him an army of 500,000, unlimited financial backing and generous media spin control. The plot is foiled when Butler reports it to Congress.

No we did not learn about this sorry footnote in our school history class. Congress did investigated Smedley Butler’s claims and found them to be very credible, but took no actions. The entire matter was glossed over & the none of the alleged conspirators were ever charged for what was treason. One of alleged conspirators, who was supposedly deep in the plot was Prescott Bush, the father of George Herbert Walker Bush and the grandfather of George W. Bush. I wonder how history would have changed – if a member of the Bush family had been tried for treason, back in 1933. An interesting side note: Gen. Smedley Butler had won two “Congressional Medals Of Honor”, who became an anti-war isolationist.

That Prescott was a wiley sonofagun, wasn’t he? Although for years, the “talk” was always out there, the British publication Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

According to classified documents from Dutch intelligence and US government archives, President George W. Bush’s grandfather, Prescott Bush made considerable profits off Auschwitz slave labor. In fact, President Bush himself is an heir to these profits from the holocaust which were placed in a blind trust in 1980 by his father, former president George Herbert Walker Bush.

(From the Guardian) “Throughout the Bush family’s decades of public life, the American press has gone out of its way to overlook one historical fact – that through Union Banking Corporation, Prescott Bush, and his father-in-law, George Herbert Walker, along with German industrialist Fritz Thyssen, financed Adolf Hitler before and during World War II. It was first reported in 1994 by John Loftus and Mark Aarons in The Secret War Against the Jews: How Western Espionage Betrayed the Jewish People”.

    Nice family, neh?

I was watching a romantic comedy the other night,”Hitch”, and there was a scene where they were looking of the girl’s ancestry that came through Ellis Island. Turns out her great, great grandfather was the “The Butcher of Cadiz”. Weird.
