Here’s something I don’t recall seeing in the past. It’s a notice from the Michigan High School Athletic Association about the No.1 girls tennis player in Div. 4 withdrawing from the tournament, not that it was her choice:
Information provided to the Michigan High School Athletic Association that confirms the participation of a student-athlete in violation of limited team membership rules has resulted in the withdrawal of the top-seeded player in the Number One Singles draw for this weekend’s (June 4-5) MHSAA Lower Peninsula Division 4 Girls Tennis Finals in Kalamazoo.
The withdrawal of a student-athlete from Ann Arbor Greenhills from the event does not affect the status of the team for the meet, which qualified by winning a Regional title on May 20. The bracket, however, for the Number One Singles flight in Division 4 has been redrawn.
A student-athlete in tennis may participate in a maximum of two non-school meets or contests while not representing their school during the same season once the team has conducted its first contest or scrimmage. The Unites States Tennis Association’s website confirms participation in three meets by the student-athlete in this case, the third taking place Memorial Day weekend.
