
Isn’t the Circle K brand fairly new in this area? It’s been an extremely popular store in the Southwest for decades – at least until the bankruptcy. Paho Mann photographs Circle K stores that have been converted to other purposes, such as the dry cleaner shown above:
In the 1980s and 90s a new corporate plan (including filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy) called for many of the original locations to be moved to more profitable corner lots. The shells left by this migration were filled by small businesses, each inhabiting an architecturally identical structure.
