Land of milk and fig paste

The Telegraph’s Ian Douglas writes about the discovery of ancient bee hives in Israel that might have come from what is now Turkey. The transport of bees here and there is nothing new, apparently:

There are more than 30 hives at Tel Rehov, which would have been a huge operation. Not quite as big as the trucks of hives that roam the US, pollinating almond and cotton fields and occasionally crashing, but still capable of providing enough of the sweet golden liquid to justify the “land of milk and honey” tag without resorting to translating דבש as jam or sweet fig paste.
