Supporters and opponents of the annual United Nations’ “defamation of religion” resolution are gearing up for what may be the biggest battle yet. World Government: Moldova ratifies treaty to establish ICC
Moldova has become the latest country to ratify the treaty establishing the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is tasked with trying people accused of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. The country ratified the 1998 Rome Statute, bringing the total number of States parties to 114. The ICC was set up in 2002 after the number of ratifications passed 60 that year.
