My brother, Tom, had some excitement yesterday. He’s teaching in Jakarta and experienced his first earthquake yesterday. (My first was right here in Morenci back in the 1980s.)
It felt a like the floor of the building was rolling. I was on the 2nd floor with 4 other teachers and the principal at the end of a meeting. Someone noticed the projector on the smartboard shaking and wondered if it was an earthquake and then the 2-3 seconds of rolling started and that was it.
His wife, Ginny, was standing next to someone talking on the phone to someone miles away and much nearer the quake. The woman on the other end screamed, the line went dead and seconds later the tremors arrived in Jakarta.
