Crooks and nannies

I’ve been waiting a long time to run across the old issue of Observer in which reporter Steve Begnoche misquoted city superintendent Ray Yenor who was talking about the mosquito spraying program: “We try to get every crook and nanny…”

That might be my all-time favorite Observer mistake. At least I assume it was a mistake. It’s from August 1981.

One thing I appreciated about Ray. He admitted that mosquito spraying really doesn’t do much. I figure the city could save some cash by spraying water.
