I hope this isn’t old news that everybody already heard this morning on other, faster news sources. Complaints about internet speed are legendary in South Africa. To prove their point, a information technology company tied a data card to the leg of Winston, a carrier pigeon, and sent it on its way to a location 50 miles away:
Including downloading, the transfer took two hours, six minutes and 57 seconds — the time it took for only four percent of the data to be transferred using a Telkom line.
Things will get better because World Cup soccer is coming to the country next year.
